With an abundance of communities and family friendly neighbourhoods, the nation’s capital is a top choice for those looking to enjoy a mix of city living, suburban lifestyle and rural charm.

Located in South west Ottawa, Barrhaven is a 20-25 minute drive from the city’s downtown core. Its development began in the 1960s and is now one of the fastest growing areas of the city with many additional developments taking shape. Barrhaven is a true suburban neighbourhood that is located close to pretty much everything you’d need. There are several areas of Barrhaven including the original Old Barrhaven to the West, Longfields / Chapman Mills towards the centre and Stonebridge to the South. You’ll find a LOT of residential homes and a fewer number of condos. Row townhomes and single family dwellings make up the majority of the real estate in the area, and the vast number of schools and parks as well as a relatively low crime rate make it a top choice for families. There are plenty of retail stores and restaurants in the area, but you won’t find the vibrant culinary scene that you would see in areas closer to the city’s downtown core. The city of Ottawa has future plans to bring the light rail rapid transit system into the area as well. You can’t go wrong with living in Barrhaven.

Riverside South

Situated along the western bank of the Rideau River, Riverside South is a suburban community located in the south end of the city. Its bordered by Barrhaven to the west and Findlay Creek to the east. Riverside South is approximately 25 kilometers south of downtown Ottawa and is an area that has experienced significant development over the last several years. The community is primarily residential, consisting of single-family homes and townhouses. The area offers a range of housing options to accommodate different budgets. Riverside South provides its residents with various amenities and services. There are several parks and green spaces throughout the community offering recreational opportunities such as walking trails, sports fields, and playgrounds. One of the attractive features of Riverside South is its proximity to the Rideau River and the surrounding natural beauty. Residents can enjoy outdoor activities such as boating, fishing, and picnicking along the riverbanks and nearby green spaces. While the community has schools, restaurants, and other commercial establishments located nearby, its also just minutes away from Barrhaven and Manotick, which both offer an array of additional amenities for added convenience. Riverside South is also well-connected to other parts of Ottawa through the city’s transportation network. New developments and construction projects have expanded the community, attracting individuals and families looking for suburban living close to urban amenities.

Manotick is a historic village community located in the southern part of Ottawa, situated along the Rideau River. Known for its charming small-town atmosphere and rich heritage, Manotick offers a blend of rural and suburban living. Over the years, The village has maintained its historic charm with stone houses, Victorian-style homes, and buildings that reflect its rich past. Manotick is known to feature spacious estates and larger single family properties. These homes typically sit on sizable lots, offering residents additional privacy. Some of Ottawa’s most expensive real estate can be found in Manotick, particularly among the properties located on the river with water frontage. Despite its small size, Manotick offers a range of amenities to its residents and visitors. The village has a variety of shops, boutiques, restaurants, and cafes located mainly along its main street, known as Manotick Main. Manotick is surrounded by natural beauty, thanks to its location along the Rideau River.
